Thats our next game.

A great early stat:

Sooner Script (Doug Brodess)
@SoonerScript

I know that it’s super early in the season and one of OU’s first opponents was a FCS team, BUT I LOVE that OU’s Pass Defense is

#1 in the nation in Opponents’ Pass Completion Percentage (43.2%).

#7 in Opponents’ Yards per Attempt (4.0)

#8 in Opponents’ Total Passing Yds (176)

@Josh_Scoop

Sooners third down conversions:

2025: 50%
2024: 37.8%

I'm not sure there's a more pure indicator of the difference we've seen (just two games, I get it) between the start last year and this.

True freshman CB Courtland Guillory was targeted eight times and allowed just one catch for six yards.

You are putting in the work here. I wish more would post, appreciate your efforts to spark conversation.

Bama fan here but my kid is a recent OU grad so I also cheer for the Sooners.
Plus I hate tx, and I live in the ATX area so I wear OU gear to trigger the insufferable fans here.

Thanks. Most posters have their own school board. I find them to be too rah rah or too negative - mainly because there is only so much to talk about your own team. Everyone is welcome to post here I’ve never denied anyone lol.

The reason I post here is because of all the boards. There is something for everyone and I like that feature. And honestly, I really don’t know who most of the mods are. Most free speech board of anywhere else.

Thats awesome about your son. My son was OU and also lives in Tx and does the same thing.

Appreciate your post!

Crazy stat:

Tyler McComas
@Tyler_McComas

Random but impressive stat: Two of the last three OU home games are against Alabama and Michigan.

The OU defense allowed just one combined touchdown in those two games.

It feels really good to have defense back in Norman.

none of the Texas schools really appealed to him. We even toured Bama but Tuscaloosa was not his jam. OU honestly was the best experience for him. He was very involved on campus and landed a great job after graduation.

He was at the airport when BV’s plane arrived. We also enjoyed his time there and attended a few games. I wish they had done a little better when he was a student but hope they are back on a positive track.

Its hard for people to understand and appreciate how big it was getting Brent after how Riley snaked out and left the program. There was so much smoke how he was calling strange wr routes in easily winnable games that we lost end of hos last season. Like sending all 3 wrs deep and had them bunched up on one side of field and made it easier to defend.

After Bob Stoops made him come say goodbye to players (he wasn’t going to) the anxiety was so high. So when Brent was announced it was just a massive news day and the fans poured to airport to meet him. Was a decent weather day but around the time he landed a huge cold front came in with high winds. Didn’t stop any fans.

None of us had any idea how much Riley gutted the program. It was as bad as it gets. Brent had so much to rebuild. But its hard to get good coaches so he settled. Took him until this off season to get it right. Hired Arbuckle and then took over D himself. Hired a crapload of people this off season too. Jim Nagy for one but just all over the program.

We may still lose 3 or 4 games but will at least have a fighting chance vs no chances last year with injuries and a crappy OC. Its seems he finally got it right and until you have a down period in an historically up program, its hard to convey to other fans how tough it is to not be competitive for at least an outside chance of title run. We all knew after 2 years of Riley we’d win a lot but knew we had zero chance of a real title run with type of players. Then it took 3 years to rebuild once Brent took over. And to me it looks like we’re finally back to teams we’d have under Bob.

The plane landing was the end of the stench and a new beginning and fans were excited.

This is a crazy stat. Years past we’d totally blow it.

Chad P. Smith
@ChadPSmith_

Venables’ defense set the tone. Michigan scored in 11 seconds to start the half. OU’s offense went 3 & out for 2 yards. Next two Michigan drives? 6 plays, -7 yards. Then we fumble a punt at our own 31. Defense allows 8 yards on 4 plays and only a FG. That’s 14 plays for net 1 yard and 3 pts.

Looking forward to flying out to philly on Friday for the Temple game. Will fly the following Thursday to OKC for the Auburn game.

Try to make an away and a home game per year.

We'll be there Friday afternoon as well in the Courtyard Marriot by the Navy Yard.

Hope we can get an Uber to the stadium from there.

According to BetMGM, the Sooners have opened as a 24.5-point favorite over the Owls. The over/under for the game is set at 51.5 points.

If anyone needs specific Philly info you can contact Jackie. She lives there and mostly does a lot of recruiting research info for OU softball and soccer. Been reading her stuff a few years now and she’s legit.

As you all prepare to come on over to my world, I give you one huge suggestion while in Philly— go to the mom and pop locations. Better cheese steaks, good ole local vibes, and overall better environment.

If you’re staying in a specific neighborhood— feel free to message me and I’ll give you a solid place to go to.

Welcome to the city of brotherly love.

Minefield. One game at a time, each team has flaws.

All of No. 13 Oklahoma's SEC opponents are ranked this week

Sept 20 vs. No. 24 Auburn
Oct 11 vs. No. 7 Texas (Dallas)
Oct 18 at No. 11 S Carolina
Oct 25 vs. No. 17 Ole Miss
Nov 1 at No. 15 Tennessee
Nov 15 at No. 19 Alabama
Nov 22 vs. No. 25 Missouri
Nov 29 vs. No. 3 LSU

I like how this sets up. OU & TX both have a bye 2 weeks before the OU/TX game. Then we have Kent State at home before OU/TX, and they play @ Florida . The Gators may be a bit inconsistent, down, whatever you want to call it but that is a game they'll have to prepare for.

Got a bye before the game in Tuscaloosa as well which is good because the 2nd half of our season is brutal but as you say, each team has its flaws.
