Austin Peay 34 Middle Tennessee State 14

That’s an interesting result before our game not that it matters but it could at least make the boys go through preparation like it’s a bigger opponent. It could serve them well down the road, watching them making plays on film vs getting their doors blown off by MTSU.

FCS Austin Peay may be better than the team we just played. Marshall had to rebuild their team with a rookie head coach, two new coordinators, 19 new HS recruits and 56 transfers for a total of 75 new players, after their previous HC, both coordinators and most of their roster left in the offseason. Only two of their top 25 tacklers (#11 and # 20) from last season recorded a defensive stat today. It's worrisome that our first team offense (or at least the ones that played with our 1st team QB) converted only 3 of 11 third downs and punted the football 4 times in 3 quarters against Marshall's brand new, cobbled together defense. On the bright side, the Dawg defense did their part and forced Marshall's fledgling offense to punt 10 times in a row during the first 3 quarters.
