Is he on record supporting crazy lefty stuff. If so they might as well have stuck with the other guy who claimed he wouldn't do it anymore.

But being so highly ranked at an institution like Columbia, my hypothesis is that the way he votes on issues are more likely to lean left than right. But I can't say for sure one way or the other.

If I was in charge the first check would be the person's stated stances during Covid. Anyone supporting forced vaccination to stay employed, in school or people not being allowed to go to stores without vaccination etc would immediately be disqualified. That would probably take out 90% of the candidates.
