3 reasons to feel good

I guess I hadn't put 9 and 3 together yet, but Roman Harper made a good point on the SEC Network and pointed out that we only have 3 true road games this season.
In terms of regular season home games and regular season neutral site games, we've only lost 2 of them bitches in the last 8 years!

The FL game and the kickoff games have kept us off the “road”. So much turnover and new players every year now. It’s a guess as to how they handle anything.

How's the job search going?

I think the schedule flipping is huge. I don't think we will be as talented this year (although we could certainly be a better overall TEAM), but man having to go to bama/texas/om is just a ridiculous gauntlet. Getting those games at home is gignantic. I also really appreciate the spacing of the scheudle.
-2 cupcakes then a tough road game followed by a bye.
-Massive home game, followed by a relatively easy home game
-tough away game followed by tough home game (this is really the biggest bugger of the bunch as far as how the calendar falls)
-much needed bye followed by jax
-easy away game (at noon!) followed by massive home game
-cupcake home game followed by tech neutral
Even during years when we don't have as daunting of a scheudle with bama/tex, you might have a couple away games in a row or some crappy away/home turnarounds. I'll never forget getting home from Tempe damn near mid-morning Sunday 6 days before facing bama. Granted we'd have lost that game under any scenario but that damn sure didn't help. Stafford and knowshon being blackout drunk at Arch bar that thursday didn't either but tha'ts another story

Some other interesting scheduling tidbits...
Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Texas all have bye weeks before they play us, which is the ultimate show of respect.
A lot of people on here are worried about the Auburn game, but we'll already have played against Tennessee before we play at Auburn, so hopefully Gunner Stocton can shite out any first big SEC road game jitters like Carson Beck had and be ready to roll for the Auburn game.

Post this on the SEC Rant and ask them why they are scared. Leave out Florida because we both traditionally have a bye before that game.

Done.
I didn't fact check it. If your facts are wrong, it's going to make me look bad and I will hate you even more.

I already got cornholed because we have a bye before bama. Major oversight on your part.

There are more questions about this KS team than I can remember from the past. There are certainly some questions about some of the coaching too. Is Gunner the answer? Can the OL improve (running game) from a pretty poor season in 2024? Can the WR's catch the ball with consistency? Can the run defense start containing the perimeter running game of their opponents? Can the defense rush the other team's QB well? Last year's team was pretty inconsistent and all that has to change if they want to even make it to the playoffs. It's really anyone's guess. I could see this team at 8-4, or maybe as high as 10-2 but the only thing any of us can do now is wait and see.
I don't look as forward to the games like I used too. NIL, transfers, and the selfishness of many of the players is why. But I will always want UGA to do well.

This is where I’m at. It’s taken some of the luster off. If they couldn’t jump ship so easy and often I’d be more content

I think we'll be hungrier and play hungrier. We won't have as many players with one foot out the door and already thinking about where they'll be training for the NFL Combine. Kirby is the best with the psychological part, and I think he has enough experience coaching in the NIL era now that he'll have our mindset and focus better.
The only variable that's preventing me from being all-in on this team and really excited is the offensive line. I just worry that the O line could be a huge buzzkill, even worse than last year, and put a shite stain on the whole season.
Another year of not being able to run the ball would be hard to stomach, and if the O line is as bad as last year they'll just end up getting Gunner killed. He'd never make it through the season. Gunner is stiffer than Carson Beck and the quick passing game will never be his thing, which means that he has to throw the ball down field for our offense to be productive. The coaches were able to hide our pass blocking shittiness last year because Carson Beck was a short stop and so good at the quick passing game, and Beck still ended up getting hit way too much.
At this point all we can do is wait and see what happens.

To each their own, but I still get just as jacked up for Georgia football as ever and refuse to take part in "the world sucks now and everything used to be so much cooler" routine and echo chamber that message boards and social media can lure people into. It's still Georgia football to me.

That’s fair. Maybe it’s just part of becoming an older fan. When I was a young pup I could state every starting line for all three major sports leagues with their stats. As the years grew, the NBA faded, then MLB, then the NFL.

Same here. I say "who the frick is number (whatever)" way more during games these days. I also don't take the losses nearly as hard as I did in my teens and 20s. I could be a real turd and not easy to be around after a Georgia loss back in the day. I called in sick at work on the Monday and the Tuesday after the 2002 Florida game. Now something like that just seems extremely silly.

Tbh I lost a lot of the ferver post natty. Like other things, the chase is the best part.
I know I didn't chase or accomplish anything, but you know what I mean.
The NIL and portal is annoying but the thing that has soured me the most is the conference and playoff expansion bullshite. Turning a beautiful sport with regional rivalries into a water down NFL lite corporate product is depressing.

You bring so much more context and value to this board than deeprig9 does that it's not even really fair to compare you two. Keep doing what you're doing!
