I listen to a ton of college podcasts, and it looks like the team de jour this offseason is OU. Pate, Staples, and Feldman have them in their playoffs and top 10, and now Phil Steele has them ranked 8th and a playoff team.

He has them top 5 in the SEC in 6 position groups. Only one not in the top 5 is DBs at 7.

QB- 4
RB- 1
WR- 5
OL- 5
DL- 1
LB- 1

Are you buying all the hype? All the experts think Mateer will dominate the SEC. I do think they go to Red River 5-0 because they will be favorites at home against Michigan (true FR QB), and Auburn. The Texas game will be a coin flip, and the more experienced QB wins that game 9 out of 10 times.

Most people say they will get in at 9-3. What say you?

As a long time Sooner fan, I’m not sure what his metrics are but he’s usually wrong anyways but this front 7 will be like something I’ve ever seen as an OU fan for sure. I think objectively, OU will be considerably better this season depending on fall camp. Outside of Dion Brooks, I couldn’t name a single WR. Hell they just from a LB to TE so obviously that’s a question mark lol I think we’re set for a much better season than last.

Steele has always been high on Oklahoma because its been an easy pick for 15ish years.....he stands to lose a lot of cred if wrong this year.

Most.of the SEC teams OU plays this year will not be as good as last year. And OU will be leaps and bounds better especially on offense. The #1 Qb and #1 Rb out of the portal. It will be interesting as long as their top 6 Wr's aren't out for the year again.

What is up with your obsession with Oklahoma?

You have hyped them up every offseason for years now.

It's fricking bizarre.

Yes, I think OU is more than capable of being a top team. 9-3 doesn't seem crazy at all to me. That's 10-15 range.

They wanted to be a more defensive minded team and they got that. If they can muster up a half decent offense, they will be a force.

The biggest obstacle is they likely have one of the toughest if not the toughest schedules in the SEC again.

I think OU could be the second best team behind Texas if they keep beating Bama like that but once they start playing Texas and Ohio St in playoffs its another level.

Well i mean this coming season

See km thinking Georgia wont have QB
So Texas is clear 1
OU could be 2 if they beat Bama again but Texas and Ohio St. have superior coaches and will beat OU in playoffs

CFP or not, 9-3 would be huge for Oklahoma in 2025.

It would mean Oklahoma beats at least 3 teams the Sooners lost to in 2024.

OU will beat LSU is what dallastiger55 is saying with what evidence has been laid out for OU.
