I’m sure some longtime Alabama and Auburn fans from the Huntsville area and maybe some other old-time SEC fans remember John, he passed last night.
He was a great old-school journalist of the kind who fairly covered what happened on the field or court and offered cogent opinions in his columns instead of rabble rousing. And in a trade that tends to attract a lot of yahoos and bird brains and in some cases absolute idiots, he was just a good man, one of the finest men to ever draw breath.
The reason journalism and sports writing in particular is in such a state is there are no more John Pruetts around.

He was one of the the last of the old school sports writer breed. I read his column every day growing up. RIP Mr. Pruitt!
