Posted this on the outdoor board but wanted to try here as well.

Any of you guys been on a tuna charter out of Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, etc and had a good enough time you’d recommend the boat and captain? Looking at trying to get a trip in the next year or so before I waste too much time and my dad is no longer able to go on a trip like this. He’s open to a long day trip or an overnight charter.

Don’t short change yourself, go to Venice and use Mexican Gulf if you want to go tuna fishing. I can recommend captains from there.

Read the OB thread and they are right. It's a hell of a boat ride out of OB or GS. I've done it and it was one of my best fishing trips ever but I feel a lot of things went right.

First the ride out was smooth, we slammed a few beers when we left and took a short nap during the ride. Got to the Petronas rig about 3AM and started fishing for blackfin tuna, we caught several of those and was worn out by daybreak when it became yellowfin and bluefin time. We didn't hook up but say several boats that did.

We slow fished our way back in and limited out on about everything we fished for. It was a damn good time but the captains were friends of ours that wanted to make sure we had a good time.
