Meyer or Miles

Me and my LSU buddy were arguing, and he still says that Miles is a better coach than Meyer
now over on the Rant, LSU fans had a comparison between the two during the middle of this season, before our titles.
Can anyone outside of an LSU fan justify that Miles is better than Meyer?

No but other than having two champs himself i cant really say Myer is better than Miles. If we have RP this season i think we may have been a two lose team(both to FLA).

Meyer has been really successful everywhere he goes. 12-0 with Utah, Bowling Green was really successful
Then he comes to the SEC and in his first 4 years has 2 SEC titles, 2 MNC, a Heisman winner.
And people may bring up the recruits thing. Meyer won with Zook's guys, Miles won with Saban's. Well...Meyer just won a title with his recruits

Is this thread meant as a joke?
Seriously? I would take Urban Meyer even if he had a 1/3 of his IQ in comparison to "The Hat"
What a joke. Urban Meyer should be compared to Pete Carroll or Bob Stoops. "The Hat" shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence on the same day as Urban Meyer.

Miles was 34-6 with three top 5 finishes and a National Title before this year.
I think he's a pretty good coach.

Urban Meyer - 44-9 currently at UF
Les Miles - 42-11 at LSU
head to head record tied at 2.

I would take Meyer..not because Les is Shabby..But Meyer has Tebow. LSU is coming on however.
When Tebow leaves..Meyer is dropping down it'll be LSU and Bama as the two dominant teams over Florida...Just Saying.

I think if you were to ask this same question 5 years from now, you would get laughed off of this board.
That's like over a decade ago asking who the better coach is: DiNardo or Spurrier
I'm glad the LSU faithful see him as a good coach. He's a good coach because he's coaching at LSU. Urban Meyer is a great coach. And I don't think Les is a close 2nd to Urban. As a matter of fact, I don't think Les is even the 2nd best coach in the SEC.
Sorry to you Corndogs who will spaz over me saying that. I know how much it irks you to hear about how utterly overrated your Corndog leader is

I know you're enamored with recruiting the past couple years under Nick, but Florida has had top 5 recruiting classes the past 3 years under Meyer. Brantley will step in after Tebow and all will be fine. More running from the RB's, less from the QB, but better passing.
Florida is building a dynasty.

How does that make Meyer a better coach?

Take nothing away from Meyer's recruiting classes, they're still pretty damn good and he'll have some good talent to work with.

Agreed.
When Tebow leaves, and we have to replace a lot of our defense after next year...if we can win 10 games in 2010, we'll be a dynasty.

Thanks for remembering to capitalize it.
Why do you think Miles is only a "good" coach? The co-def and keeping Lee in too long are the only two major mistakes I've seen him make in 4 years.

Ohio State... not a dynasty.
Ohio State is the whipping child of the SEC
... and everybody else outside of the Big 10 for that matter
