Very, very few coaches can handle more then 2 years of working for Nick Saban. This is the main reason I was happy to see Saban leave LSU. Yes, he is a good coach with excellent salesman skills used on recruiting high school recruits, but the down side is definitely there. Lance Thompson had the choice of working another year for Saban are doubling his pay and working for Lane Kiffin at UT. What would you choose? LSU was just starting to enter burn out of Nick Saban when he left LSU. Watching the Bama/Utah game and how everyone on the sidelines walked in fear around Nick reminded me of what I don't miss about him being at LSU. Now Nick has to focus on rebuilding his coaching staff at a critical juncture. Why? Because of his style of constantly demeaning people around him. It's not gonna change, it will always be part of Nick.

Another Asst Coach Leaves Saban

quote:

Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Jim McElwain told quarterback prospect AJ McCarron of St. Paul's that Thompson walked into Alabama's coaching meetings Thursday morning and announced he was resigning to take a job at Tennessee. "It shocked everybody," McCarron said. That included head coach Nick Saban, who was "shocked" and "kind of upset," said Richardson, who heard from Saban later Thursday.

Will Jim McElwain be the next to leave?

Here's a Bama Fan post from one of the Bama boards that is pretty right on. I think Bama fans are finally starting to figure it out about Nick.

quote:

some local personalities were making a big deal that none of CNS's staff from michigan state followed him to lsu.......I understand he's hard to work for, and I understand our spin of "yeah, but if someone wants to work for a winner, they'll work for CNS" etc. But as long as more nicer winners start coming to league, I can't help if CNS is going to "mean" himself out of some good coaches who realize they don't have to put up with that scat.

Anyone have a Bamanese-to-English translator handy?

Usually the ones who are competent and can stick it out end up in good situations.

The chances of Lance Thompson being a successful SEC head coach are slim and none.

I don't always stick up for Saban when something goes wrong,or is perceived to have gone wrong (honestly,he brings a lot on himself),but the Michigan State assistant coaches staying in East Lansing instead of flying to Baton Rouge to join him at LSU is misleading and honestly not accurate at all.

Correct me if I am wrong (and I am sure someone will ) but when Saban decided to leave for LSU,the Michigan State president (chancellor ?)and others weren't that fired up about Bobby Williams being the new HC. The only way he would agree to hire him,and remove the 'interim' was if the existing staff would all stay and coach for Williams.

LSU didn't have a limousine outside the Mich State coaches offices waiting to wisk them to a chartered 747 to Baton Rouge. I'm not even how accurate the 'empty plane' story is. Probably some corporate jet ,either LSU's or 'loaned' picking up some of Kristen's Barbie dolls or something, and oh by the way if any of you guys want to look around LSU ,come on down.

Saban steps it enough with his abrasiveness without myths exploding.
