Who would have thought NIL era would see a surge in SEC basketball

while simultaneously causing a decline in SEC football?
Could this be the result of SEC athletic programs choosing to divert more than expected NIL funds to basketball thinking the SEC football brand itself would be enough to maintain dominance? And it was a miscalculation that they will have to fix in order to maintain status quo in football. Thus resulting in a soon to be seen decline in SEC basketball back to it’s status quo?
Very interesting point of discussion.

It is interesting, but it's also one year. I don't really expect anyone to take the SEC's football crown long term

SEC Basketball's rise has been coming for awhile, pre-NIL. And it goes back to the conference starting to invest in quality coaching. When ADs started opening the pocketbook for better coaches, that's when it started IMO.
