Is there any truth to the rumor that Alley is headed to WVU as DC? Anyone heard anything? If it is true I'd imagine we will hear about it after the game. This would be a disappointment for OU if true, he is Co-DC and LB coach, but it still seems like a lateral move at best.

Idk if being WVU’s DC is that much of a step up. He’s too talented of a guy to hum mountain mama in Morgantown

Wow, if true. This feels like Riley leaving. And its not good to replace both coordinators same season. How many players leave? That will tell the tale. Zac was a BV clone.

Program guy!!!

Note about Zac: This is not a major loss. Its a shock but not major. We have in house talent to promote.

As Corso says: "Not so fast". This is a HUGE blow for OU, we can't even keep a DC from a lateral move to WVU.

Lol, its not a huge blow.

Nothing major lost other than surprise.

Its BV system. He’s a clone of BV. He leaves and guess what - we still have a BV defense.

This is a Riley move. Screw him. Someone summarized it best

Man… you say that’s your mentor and a father figure… he let you skip the line cause he believed in you and you jump to DC at OU… you see his name getting drug through the mud… you know he’s got crazy shite going on at home (wife/cancer) on top of all this… you know he’s going into a make or break season and needs the ship as steady as possible…. And you leave him out to dry…

Take off the rose colored glasses.. you are partially correct from a recruiting standpoint, but the perception here is really bad. A program like OU shouldn't be losing a DC in a lateral move to West Virginia.

Seems like a step down going to WV than lateral. Makes you wonder what is behind all of it. I didn't think he would go.

Who cares about trolls on a posting board or twitter, that happens to every program. He was not a major contributor. He was not a major recruiter. He ran BV’s system.

If we took the Clemson DC, it will still be BV’s system. And the Clemson DC is a much better recruiter than Alley. So we might actually gain recruits yet still have same system but with better players.

There is always overreaction when news drops but we’ll be fine. With BV and Arbuckle (and whoever is anointed as DC), we’ll be on the upswing next year. Bookmark this post.

Ne wanted his own recognition and would never get it here. He knows the WV coach. The killer is how he did it like Riley. Given a job ahead of others (jumped line) and this is how he pays it back to BV. Screw him

I’ll add, we hired Arbuckle who will 100% run offense. Means BV will have time to oversee defense. He knows this is make or break year so will have his hands all over defense to tweak it. And Arbuckle can cook on O.

It really isn’t as big a deal as most are making it out to be. Its moreso the shock of him going to a lesser program that has people rattled, not that we’re losing so much.

I hope fans are patient. We’ll know next year how it goes and until then I’ll stat positive as I love the OC hire and the QB addition. And this might allow Hawkins to redshirt and be super ready for 26. I recall Kyler sat a year waiting for his turn and it worked out. Hawk is a Sooner thru and thru. Lots to look forward to on O.

And as our O improves if our D just stays same we vastly improve. But I expect D is better with a good O.

We are not losing anything other than the shock of it. And its possible BV told him to go get the bag. If WV wants to pay way over market then can’t blame him. But I don’t like how he did BV and players dirty sneaking out like that (reports are he told players past few days he was staying). Another Snake so we got lucky to learn now vs later.
