Buddy of mine died in a motorcycle accident in February. Wife started dating a friend of his about a month after he died. Just got engaged on Christmas Eve.
We have a lot of mutual friends and they think I'm a dick for thinking this is insane.
What say you OT?

At the risk of being an even bigger dick, are you sure that's when they started "dating"?

How old are they?
Life’s fricking short.

Are you in a relationship?
I don't mean to sound rude, but I am going somewhere with this.

I've seen similar situations with people I've known, whether their spouse died or they got divorced. They jump into another marriage without letting themselves go through the grieving process. I don't think it's healthy but to each his own I guess. It can also cause problems with their relationships with their children if they have any.

I second 1Big's motion and move it passes by vocal vote.
When you get up there in years... damn it I am... you see people jump into a relationship because they are scared to not be in a relationship. Maybe it works sometimes, but every time I've seen it happen it turns to crap almost immediately.
Whether it be due to death, divorce, or what have you... people should take time to get over things before they move on.

All of that seems quick. What is her age? Kids?

Yep, that's just when they made it public.

I’m a widower in my late fiddies that spends a lot of coin on rental pussy.
I’m interested to see where you take this.

How long did it take you to emotionally get past your wife's death to the point that you would even consider entering a new relationship?

Real question:
is OP regretting having not made the move soon enough?
