The CFP sold the tickets not Ohio State

I thought they allotted a lot more than the regular away amount

3,500 were alotted.

After that it is at the home team's discretion because the NCAA idiots said they wanted it handled "exactly like it's a home game for the home team."

They even refused to designate upper or lower bowl sections, etc.

However, apparently some OSU fans were cashing in their tickets for big money in the open marketplace.

Wrong!

The allotment was less. Season tickets holders were given first opportunity to purchase their regular seats at the home stadiums. CFP set the prices.

Most OSU fans kept their tickets. There won't be 50,000 UT fans there. Not saying a lot of season ticket holders didn't sell their seats on the secondary market. However, there won't be anywhere close to 50,000 UT people there.

The criteria was set by CFP and was the same for all schools.

This was sent to Tennessee season ticket holders.

2024 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF INFORMATION

HOME FIRST ROUND CFP GAME

If Tennessee is selected to host a First Round College Football Playoff game, 2024 football season ticket holders will receive an invoice for tickets in their current seat location after the selection show on DECEMBER 8. Any remaining tickets will be offered in donor rank order, with additional details provided after the game is announced.

AWAY FIRST ROUND CFP GAME

If Tennessee is selected to play a First Round College Football Playoff game on the road, season ticket holders and donors will have an exclusive opportunity to submit ticket requests. This window will open after the game is announced on DECEMBER 8.

Please note, for regular season SEC away games, as the visiting team, we receive 5,000 tickets. Unfortunately, per College Football Playoff guidelines, visiting teams will only receive 3,500 tickets for first round away games. In receiving 1,500 fewer tickets than a typical SEC away game, we will be able to accommodate less Tennessee Fund donors. Requests will be filled in donor rank order. All requests WILL NOT be filled as we anticipate allocating ONLY ~1,000 tickets to donors (~500 in the lower bowl and ~500 in upper-level seating), after taking care of institutional needs.

Ticket pricing is determined by the CFP. Additional details about a potential First Round home or away game will be provided as it becomes available.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the first time, the College Football Playoff (CFP) will feature 12 teams this season. Teams seeded 1-4 will receive a first-round bye, teams seeded 5-8 will host a first-round game on campus, while seeds 9-12 travel. Quarterfinal and semifinal games will be played at bowl sites, and the National Championship game will be played at a neutral site.

We'll have about 35K there. Which means it will be 1/3 quieter than it usually is.
