The Consolation Prize Kaleb Harris

According to Charlie5, Kaleb Harris is our consolation prize after missing out on KJ Bolden. Kaleb basically had a similar recruiting story as Daniel Thomas, the former safety that is now a ST stud in the NFL. Kaleb was one of the last to join the team, and he was rated lower than everyone else in the class other than Townes McGough, according to Charlie5. Nobody expected much out of him.
Since then, he is arguably not only one of our most consistent freshman, but also one of our more consistent defenders on our whole defense. Lo and behold, he made the On3 all truefreshman midseason team along with fellow safety...you guessed it, KJ Bolden. Pretty swell consolation prize, huh! I can only imagine the hurt we would be in if he played according to our early expectations. To go along with Kaleb Harris, Malik Blocton also made the midseason team. We need to keep the tamperers away. We got some dogs that we can build around.

Also don't forget that Riddick and Crawford have gotten better as their playing time increases.

Kaleb Harris is a straight up baller. He and Jay Crawford were all over the field on Saturday.

Malik Blocton also made that list.

Jang mentioned Blocton too

I mentioned on the recruiting thread that his highlights were as good as anyone’s at his level, which I think is the highest in Alabama.
I didn’t think he would play this year but I’m also not outright surprised he’s doing well

Future is bright on defense

Malik Willis was given the very last scholarship that Auburn had. Very, very last second offer. Couldn't sniff the field while wearing an Auburn uniform. Transferred to Liberty, and he's now an NFL QB.
I say that, to say this: There are a bunch of overlooked diamonds out there. The Vandy QB is a prime example, along with a whole bunch of hungry guys that play defense on some shitty HS teams.

The Vandy QB
One of the rare players to begin his career at a JC and work his way up. He led New Mexico Military Institute to the 2021 NJCAA national championship.
In high school he only played his senior season and only threw165 total passes for 14 TD’s.

Sure but Cam began his career as a 5* at UF. Not exactly the same.

Willis committed December 30, 2016. About a month before NSD, before there was an early signing day.

Willis is commitment No. 20 for Auburn, which moved up to No. 8 in the 247Sports recruiting team rankings. The Tigers can take up to six more in the 2017 recruiting class because one current commit, long snapper Bill Taylor, will blue shirt and not count toward the 2017 scholarship totals.

I only remember this because we had a month leading up to NSD where we debated if he was even a QB based on where other schools were offering him.

I think he was Stidham's backup right? He wasn't utilized a whole lot, but he had snaps both years. I think he just didn't have a path to start with Nix and Gatewood on the roster in 2019

He had a really nice long TD run in one of the games. I liked him being at Auburn.
