Ok I'll say it.
I was relieved when we made the change last night and was excited when Hawkins started moving us down the field. The way the last couple of games have gone I finally have some hope for our offense.
Hate it that JA hasn't played yet like we all expected or hoped. I think he's a Great Respectable kid and I want so much for him to succeed and I still believe he possibly still can. I think Hawkins right now is better suited for us until we can get our o-line shored up.
I'm still stuck on the high center about Seth. Pulling for him to be successful as well.

I'm leaning towards JA being a texas mole.

JA helped recruit a lot of players for us. Remember Bradford had some struggles when he didn't have a good line in HS and one year in college. When he had protection he was lights out I think it could be the same for JA. Still Hawkins was able to still make some plays.
I bounced back and forth listening to the REF and the sports animal after the game. Animal said Mark Rogers was supposed to give us some shocking information tomorrow at 11am. May tune in too see but who knows if it's anything big.

Bradford is 10 times the qb and he at least made good reads.
The only 2 shocking things they could announce on Mon is BV fired Seth (not how BV operates) or they start JA this week.
I don’t think JA is fixable this season. Its not just little mistakes its bad reads and decisions and throws. Its gone on all year but when you win no one calls for qb change. He is totally regressed, I watched a lot of his HS games online and he was really great. But he is not the same qb as HS for whatever reason.
He might be a good kid but he’s getting a huge NIL too. Its possible that money changed him and took the desire away.
Hawkins has passion. His passes were crisp and decisive. His reads were fast. He never turned ball over coming in cold and not getting 1 reps all week/year. We must go with him and maybe the reset can help JA, but my guess is he enters portal after season. Lebby might snag him since he recruited him.
I have big concerns with OC. He is not calling games to help JA. Too many RPO and when the qb is making too many bad RPO decisions you have to take RPO off the table and call either run or pass play with different run options or pass options. That would speed up his play and give him confidence yet Seth never did that.
From what BV said in post game presser it seemed to me he knew Hawkins was better. I speculate NIL politics pushed them to stay with JA. And finally BV had enough. Just guessing here.

Also, Seth sits in booth and then this didn’t help. Big concerns with our O staff. Side note, Zac calls D now and he was masterful.

I think you nailed it.

I can't see them starting JA next week.
It was unfortunate the first snap to Hawkins was off and to his right from the center. Hawkins still showed a lot of poise after that and you could see him settle into the game more with each snap. I hope he can stay healthy because you can tell the way he carries himself he's a gamer.
I'm glad Hawkins has a few weeks before we play TX. One wonders how last Saturdays game had played out if Hawkins played the whole game.
I'm still excited about this season and watching Hawkins college experience grow with each snap. I think he has a lot of potential. Get the offense going along with this defense playing like it is Saturday's are going to be fun and special.

Yes, its a loss I think we win with Hawkins all game due go how our D was playing. Had we complimented them in any way they play even better. At one point it was 33 min to 18 min TOP! How they held them to only 23 is a miracle.
Give Hawkins the whole week to prep. That will make a difference. He just seemed more in tune with gameflow. JA looks stage struck.
Can you imagine the fanbase if they start JA.
This is JA in HS

I think the same way about the game with Hawkins in. They gives me hope for the rest of the schedule.
I heard some rumblings on the radio after a week or two when the team reported in August that JA wasn't looking as sharp yet. I also heard Hawkins was looking good. Maybe having the start but also knowing how well Hawkins was doing in practice added pressure on JA that he carried into the games. Dont know.
I really like listening to the Oklahoma Breakdown.

I really hate this kind of take because it doesn't consider the fact that Tennessee kind of sat on the ball for the entire second half once they went up by more than two scores. Not that it COULDN'T have happened that way...
But...
Tennessee never tried to beat our corners down the field in man coverage in the second half because they didn't need to. Hawkins might have kept us in the game enough to where they did that and scored more...
....or they tried that and Nico fumbled the ball again. Which obviously could have led to your scenario.
As it was.. they deemed it wasn't wort the risk.

But your scenario doesn’t factor in the game flow difference if we score at 5 yard line. Then its a dogfight and we likely force them into more errors by trying to throw to keep up with is.
I think they stopped throwing to avoid turnovers from strip sacks or INT - but if we are ahead that requires them to move the ball and we might force more errors. So to me it does make a difference had Hawkins played all game and got us those points.
Another lie being propagated is they backed off defense when Hawkins played. Thats false.
Us fans will always have a different take. For me the crowd was so into game but tailed off with O mistakes. Imagine Hawkins scoring early where JA did not - and that crowd is even louder. And things can snowball fast once you lead at home.

Fact: Per PFF, Tennessee blitzed Hawkins at a higher rate than they did Arnold.

I think this was the big news, Jacobe to WR:
Travis J Davidson
@TravisSkol
OU has 12 receivers on scholarship.
6 are hurt in some way or another.
Of the 6 that are healthy, 4 are true freshmen.
Of the 4 true freshmen, only 2 were here for spring.
Jacobe to WR makes sense from a numbers perspective, but is he better suited than the other 6? Idk.

That HS video looks the same as his plays in the first three games.
Thankfully Hawkins was ready to play.
