Was expecting way north of that. If money was ever a reason, then I was expecting a&m to counter with something north of $3 million forcing Texas to match

It wasn't all money then.
1) Premier baseball team
2) University with a track record of winning in major men's sports
3) CDC over that Nebraska AD
4) A real city over CS
