Wait. I thought the only reason A&M could recruit well because Texas wasn’t in the SEC?

Didn’t y’all tell the recruits y’all were coming to the SEC Texas?
Didn’t you tell them your overall record of dominance?
Why are y’all 27th?

TAMU fans sure are excited about recruiting rankings in July. Just like last year.

Offered a wide receiver, 1.5 million to come to Austin and got rejected for the same money to go to Oregon
I’m not saying, they should be embarrassed about it, these things happen, kids go where they wanna go, However, running around telling everybody that they get who they want, and never lose, and that they are willing to out pay anybody, well, that is why we laugh at them, the goobers just can’t get out of their own way. Those dorks have been like that their entire existence.

Aggies are absolutely giddy over Texas not being the highest bidders at an auction that doesn't end for another 6 months.

OK, How about we step out of the goofing around/trash talk zone for just a second.
Give me an honest answer, do you think it will still work that way this year because I don’t see it. I think a lot of work and lawyers and agents are going to be involved right up until signing day hashing out legal documents and agreements for NIL, I think there will be contracts with lots and lots of pages that have gone through a pretty good approval process by lawyers and accountants and family members long before signing day. I don’t think families or kids will get a phone call even a week or so before signing day, and change their mind or decision. Yes, July is early, but I think signing day or even week of signing day surprises are going to be much fewer on high value kids with complicated or high value in NIL money involved. I think probably 30 days out will become the new last minute switch for high value recruits.

quote:Honest answer. Have been a part of a lot of contract negotiations with all the parties involved hashing out details. And, all that goes out the window because someone tossed a late grenade. Last minute offers still have to be matched.

The problem lies with the deadline though, Accepting last-minute deal with a complex legal agreement, requires a delay and postponement of execution
Kids, lawyers agents and families are going to be especially cautious of broken promises in the NIL era
Unless the offer is double what’s on the table I don’t think high value recruits are going to switch gears and risk losing the deal in hand with a postponement.
Also think of this, a lot of these kids are going to have whatever check that’s going to be placed in their hand at the time of signing pretty much spent already. Postponing to explore a new option at the last second is not gonna be an option for a surprisingly high number of these kids.
Again, just my opinion, but I think when there’s a 30+ page document that’s been drafted by lawyers, signed off on an approved by multiple representatives of the recruit sitting in front of them to be executed after signing their commitment letter, I just don’t see the ship changing directions to easily going forward
I think if you don’t have the firm commitment By 30 days out, it will be very difficult and very rare to see a change.
I think the exception will be if they continue to entertain other offers behind the scenes and have multiple contracts and multiple things and play. But that is not what you were saying you were saying a last-minute change of mine from a last-minute offer and I just don’t see that happening, if there’s a shocking recruit at the last minute, I think it’s gonna be something that would’ve been going on behind the scenes for weeks and weeks not last minute change.

No just wondering why A&Ms recruiting hasn’t tanked. You said it would.

I guess we’ll have to see, but I think the only way it really happens is if the last and final offer is massively different than the one they’ve got the contract drawn up in front of them for. I think these deals will be way more, locked up and solidified than you do. In my opinion, the new last-minute deal will be 30 days out
