I hope you're right but I don't see how this solves the yearly bidding war for transfers. I doubt most players would sign a contract that requires paying back earnings if they end up transferring next year to a school who pays them more.

And if they do, we'll just see schools paying the "buyout" anyway.

1 year contact - $1M, 2-year contract $5m
