Texas borders Louisiana. Kentucky borders Ohio.

A different tact to point out Kentucky doesn’t belong?

What other states border Texas? The New Mexico territory was confederate, are they in?

The ONLY part of Texas that could make an argument for “southern” is SE Texas. Dallas - not remotely. Corpus? Poor man’s beach. El Paso? Might as well be part of Mexico. Amarillo? A wasteland like Oklahoma. And Austin? You could mistake it for any town in CA
