Definitely know not to take notes from someone that thinks W/L is anything more than a TV stat. Pitchers have nothing to do with the run support they get.

I'd argue strikeout to walk is far more important for a closer because it determines the likelihood of a successful save via the number of batters faced.
Also, if a closer comes in with the bases loaded and gives up a triple, he allows 3 runs, but none earned...as an example.
Let me put it more simply for you so you can understand: Closers inherit baserunners very often, starters never inherit baserunners. If inherited runners score, it doesn't count against your ERA.
I'd expect a "baseball expert" to know this.
