They curiously and bizarrely overlooked a school (especially from their subjective criteria) that has:

-The Pennington Biomedical Research Institute - one of the top medical research facilities on the planet.

-One of the top university publishing houses in the country.

-In Carnegie Institute's Top 30 Research universities in America.

-Top 5 programs in: Coastal Studies, Hurricane Engineering, Landscape Architecture

-Top 30 programs in Petroleum Engineering, Geophysics, Mass Communications, Design, Entrepreneurial Studies, Agribusiness, Music & Dramatic Arts,

-One of the most beautiful campuses in the country.

-One of the most diverse student bodies in undergraduate and graduate programs.

-HIghly-ranked Business School, MBA, and Law schools.

-New Billion dollar Medical School in New Orleans.

-Annually very highly nationally ranked in value - especially in mid-career earnings.

-Countless offshore energy company presidents and CEOs.

-#1 student-athletics academic complex - Cox Academic Center for Student-Athletes.

-Tier 1 institute in USN&WR

Probably #3 in the SEC behind Florida (gold standard in Coastal Studies) and A&M. Not sure about schools that have a more prestigious Marine Biology programs. (USC would probably be one of these.)

I'm judging based on Oceanography and Coastal and Environmental Science.

LSU's Kam-Bui Lui is a world renowned hurricane researcher who wrote the book and coined the term Paleotempestology.
