If I'm an athlete and I watch my school fire coaches along with the coordinators & position coaches to the tune of +$100 million, I'm damn sure pissed that I worked in the weightroom, film study and on the field busting my arse for the equivalent of pennies.

This is so ignorant and just highlights any player who thinks this bullshite is clueless.

The coaches make that much money because they are worth it. When was the last time you saw a kid right out of highschool hired to coach a football team? You know why? Because not a SINGLE player on the field can do what those coaches making all that money could do. NONE OF THEM. Those coaches have been doing this shite for decades to get to that level.

You know what that money being spent on coaches actually is? It's the school providing them the highest level of coach to teach them the game. That money is to the BENEFIT of the players, and you just act like it's fricking worthless?

Go ahead and try to pay someone that qualified to train you and tell me it's worthless.

All I see are ignorant people who don't understand the concept of value outside money. I can't blame Saban for retiring and not wanting to deal with such bullshite.

And btw, tell them to go join the military and see how fricking great the pay is. And not only are you doing all the shite work you can think of and some shite jobs you never even fricking thought of, you're going to possibly at some point sacrifice your life for it.

And they make LESS than what college football players get before NIL, just in the benefits and such they are eligible for, NOT to mention better healthcare, facilities and so on.

The entire thing is ignorant and insulting to anyone who's actually had to work for a living. Show me any job where the person starting out isn't doing the hard work for cheap pay. You want that big time money, you put your time in and earn it. Then you get to hire the people who do the shite work.

RT1941 is correct.

3down10 if anything smacks of ignorance it is your post. The coaches were never worth 10 million dollars a year, the main reason they got that money was to try to “recruit” the best players. There is very little difference between the coaching players are receiving at the top 40-50 CFB programs; the best players go where they have the best chance of getting to the NFL. Coaches like Saban and Smart did a great job of selling their programs as the best path to the NFL and were successful as a result of that.

Now college players are being treated more fairly in terms of their true market value to a college team. The programs that deal best with this reality will be successful. Programs that choose to stick their head in the sand and complain that players are selfish and entitled will likely not get very many good players on their teams. However, since I am an Auburn fan I hope you are able to convince Alabama to use your suggested approach.
