Agree Harry. Gullah and mountain speech sound a lot alike. And west of Chatt would still fall into to overriding dialect of Smoky Mountain English (so would north BAMMER). And fwiw there”s a ton of variation within that dialect.

Trenton GA/Stevenson Alabama/Franklin County Tenner/etc
slowest speaker I've ever heard in my life is from that area, a very smart man, and played for the Bear
It took him 20 seconds to utter a ten word sentence
but it was always wisdom
