We had to have Texas politician’s permission to leave the BXII.

Even when Texas agreed to join the BXII originally, A&M still resisted. We didn’t want the BXII. But as a state school there were politics involved as well as basically the survival of Texas Tech and Baylor athletics.

Texas is the big dog, and they forced everyone in line with their way of thinking. They even tried to get us to go to the PAC with them years later when they planned to break up the B12. This is all very well covered in books on the history of the SWC and A&M’s move to the SEC.

You said Baylor above. Now you have to have everybody's permission to leave the BXII. So, you're everybody's bitch in your home state.
