Yes and no. Per multiple reports, especially the often mentioned Brooks Austin, many big name schools are already experiencing “donor fatigue”. If it goes to a salary cap, it won’t quite be totally under the table like the old days because the main donors will have already heavily contributed to the salary cap.
HOWEVER, if it moves into revenue splits, I could see that promoting a lot of under the table deals because then the donors aren’t primarily responsible for the salaries, the schools are.
The NIL, NCAA hearings, and legalities involving them are absolutely head spinning so I generally assume to be educated on the highlights and important events, but as far as the daily inching forward progression goes, I can’t keep up. When all that stuff gets legislated or decided, Just let me know what the major changes are and when they’ll take effect. Until then we’ll be in the same unsustainable eco-system we’re currently in.
