You guys need to stay off RR and facebook groups.

Not a glamour hire at all, but a solid coach. I assume they talked to Billy D and he didn't want to say he would come, so they decided to move on.

Pope fits the tier 2 list of coaches, and clearly UK didn't want to consider other named candidates like Oats. I think that is fine.

Pope isn't flashy, but he is solid coach and his teams show improvement from year to year.

It will be a change for Kentucky fans. Probably not chasing 5* one and dones anymore and instead focusing on good players who will stay 3-4 years. That is the recipe that is winning in March now, so I'm good with it.

Time will tell, but if we had to drop down to a tier 2 coach, he's a good choice. What happens to the remainder of this year's team? No idea. There are currently only 3 players not in the portal or NBA draft.

I would guess this will keep Sheppard here, and with Perry, we just need about 6 more players.

Let's see what he can do.

You just replaced Cal with a guy who has never won a tournament game. What was the primary complaint about Cal the last 4-5 years? I wouldn't even try to polish this turd if I were you. If I were a UK fan I would be (justifiably) livid.

Pope was NOT the 3rd choice. You might not want to get into a big hurry about who Kentucky was not interested in. These wishlists in the back pocket of ADs at premium schools can go south in a hurry. As far as Nate Oats is concerned he put the Kentucky job to bed early.
