Nothing had changed and a title IV investigation was already started. There are emails from the university to Deboar that told him to remove him from the travel roster

It was reported to the University Police in November. And the University slowed it down, and did not follow proper Title IV reporting procedures.

So the investigation and due process were ongoing, no arrest had been made, and decisions about this student athlete’s status as a student and a football player were being directed from the university directly to DeBoer, given that football coaches aren’t very qualified at conducting investigations of rape allegations.

The police were immediately notified so there was no coverup. The police did not have enough evidence to arrest him until 3 months after the title game and DeBoer had left UW. Yet you guys want to judge DeBoer retroactively for new information he now knows about the outcome of the investigation.

The same people judging him now would be lobbing jokes and memes about woke DeBoer and the next Duke Lacrosse situation if DeBoer had circumvented his bosses and the investigation, kicked him off the team in November with no charges filed, and then 5 months later the police determined that the allegations were false.

Of course I don’t want people arrested for rape playing football, not at Washington, Alabama, or anywhere, but let’s at least be honest about this situation and not use rape charges as a tool to troll rival fans.
