Yeah my thoughts exactly. OP is going to sit here and pretend that alumnus funding facilities, recruiting activities and under the table payments to players didn't exist the last several decades before NIL.

Now that it's out in the open and people can talk about paying players in the light of day, all of the pagentry and integrity of the game is suddenly ruined?

The transfer rules have led to more of the change to the game recently than NIL, imo. Players can now negotiate their terms of service with the option to leave after any season. NIL or no that brings up funding challenges and keeping players happy priorities never yet seen in the game.
