Not just a much larger city than most college towns, but also the state capitol. That means no matter what decade you attend you will run into protests for anything and everything you can imagine, most not far from campus or actually marching through campus. Me and my buddies joined some of them when we were bored. It can be amusing not knowing exactly what you're protesting yet being some of the most enthusiastic slogan yellers. Good times
