Yeah, all the good coaches learned on their own and never had any one mentor them.

Saban never spent large amounts of time talking to other coaches and learning from them over his career. He never looked at what others did and adapted them to his own purpose. He would never in a million years think about calling up a legendary coach to pick his brain and get his opinion.

You're either born with it, or you don't have it at all. If you don't succeed on your first try, always give up because it's never going to happen.

LOL. You skeered.

It would be absolutely stupid not to take advantage of keeping Saban around as much as he is willing, if only just for showing up on the practice field occasionally when a group of elite recruits happen to be there.

Plus, he's just a good defensive coach.
