I didn't see it but sounds like a solid plan LSU had for the rush and good for them. A little different for football. I think it was tom Osborne who addressed this back in the 90's and said it best. You instruct your players to leave the field but if you feel threatened in any way then do what you have to do. Don't do anything unless you are provoked but if you are and your personal space is encroached on then do what you have to do to protect yourself. A few weeks later was when a drunk, I believe, Arizona St student ran at one of Nebraska's wideouts and he got flattened with one punch. I would use the same approach if I were coaching. If you want to celebrate, fine, but if you get in my face or come at me you will suffer whatever consequences happen.
