It's true. UGA pays existing players big bucks. We don't give big bucks to recruits to come to UGA.
We did it that way because that's what the NCAA wanted teams to do. They didn't want NIL to be a recruiting tool.
When recruits asked for guaranteed contracts, UGA would talk about how well those who put up numbers while at UGA got compensated. Their line was "come here and do well and you'll get paid as good or better than anyone in NIL". Not "if you sign with us you'll get a couple million a year".
Now that it's clear paying for recruits is allowed, UGA's recruiting will get even better. We hadn't been competing for the recruits shopping for a payday until now.
We were following the NCAA guidelines.
