Elite athlete? Yes but elite QB? Not even close, he hurt his shoulder during high school and didn't have any development during the Nutt years.

A definition of a QB that tried to make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

Jones was highly coveted prospect.

He was the #31 ranked QB out of high school and Emfinger ranked him as the #13 QB out of high school.

At the risk of sounding redundant, if the offensive line isn't much better, it really doesnt matter. Last year may have been the worst o-line ever at Arkansas.

Jones was recruited heavily to convert to WR (0U).

Felix Jones was recruited by everyone else (0U/tenner) as a DB.

The question is why Nutt was so good at finding guys like this by letting them play their preferred position (compared to others also heavily recruiting them) vs the staffs since.

Seems like it shouldn't be too hard to find the rb or QB who is being told they are dbs, wrs, lbs, etc by everyone else. This is something that can't be blamed on NIL.

According to the 2001 24/7sports composite rankings, he wasn't ranked in the top 100 and the list only goes back to 131.

Cedric Houston was a five star and the top ranked player out of Arkansas. He was 28th overall.

Next was four star De'Arrius Howard. He was ranked 47th overall.

Four star Shawn Andrews was ranked 71 overall.

Four star Jeb Huckeba was ranked 85 overall.

I do remember Matt Jones was a high three star and he was recruited either as a QB or WR by numerous programs.
