Easy, if fans rush the court or field, then the win by the home school is forfeited. That will take care of the problem.

I agree it will be just a matter of time before someone is trampled to death and the university will be held liable.

I think loss of home games is a punishment that would get attention. Especially in football. Teams have to play back to back away games against their biggest rival would not only suck, would really hurt them more than a fine. Not just home game revenue, think about all that is involved, parking, concessions, tailgating.

Start taking away home games. They'll get the message then. Fans/students couldnt care less if the school gets fined.

Alabama football would be damn near undefeated on the road since 2008.

That won't really stop it. Like "vacated" wins, everyone knows what happened on the field.

The solution is to make it about money in a BIG way.

The first time your fans storm the floor/field, your next home game is played with 0 spectators and literally one butt in a seat extends it another game. Do it twice in, say a decade, and your entire next season's worth of home games is played with zero fans in attendance.

Fans aren't as stupid as they're made out to be. They full well know that even a $250,000 fine is nothing when your athletic department generates $100-200 million a year in revenue so it's not even a tiny deterrent. Take away those seats though and suddenly everyone from the university president down to the guy renting his yard for RV parking suddenly cares.
