You claim asylum at a port of entry, not by crossing the border illegally and then living in the country until someone tells you to claim asylum to prevent deportation.

Not to mention, you don't travel through multiple countries before arriving at the place you are seeking asylum at.

You can claim asylum at any point within 1 year of entering the country, regardless of if your entry was legal or not (under current US immigration law, from the 1980's).

You can also be denied entry at any point on the border, and that is where we need to start.

We could have locked the border down tight. However, the Democrats need new voters for their insanity.

You don’t know what you are talking about just like the other Georgia goofball who continues to make excuses. The President has the authority to close the border. The current laws already restrict illegal immigration. Embrace your role in allowing the continued stupidity of flooding the nation with millions of people. As long as it continues, and it will under our current leadership in both parties, unnecessary crimes will continue and innocent people will pay the price, stop making ridiculous excuses that aren’t true “like the President can’t do anything” and “we need to pass immigration reform to stop it”. Incentivizing illegal behavior with free government assistance while millions of Americans struggle everyday to pay their bills is the very definition of stupidity
