It's why my mid-sized company can't keep qualified minorities; bigger industry competitors throw obscene amounts of cash at them because they carry extra value to them on a DEI scorecard. It also does a disservice to them because people wrongly assume they were hired based on something other than merit.
Well they sued and won
Which goes back to the original post about Woodfin's apparent belief that minorities can't succeed in a meritocracy.

Again, with the history of the state, the south, and the country I don't trust that we can either. We have literal history to prove that we will not be treated fairly
