At the time, State was the 7th national seed, was the only school in the country that had been to the last 3 CWS, and was the only school in the country that had been to the last 5 Super Regionals.
In the CWS, State beat the #2 seed twice and the #4 seed 13-2 and 9-0 to win the championship.

I stand by what I said. State was a middle of the pack SEC team that year that got hot at the right time.
