The problem with that is that the SEC lives in Alabama.. so how do you think that's going to go for any other team that is not Alabama?
I like the idea of our confernece taking everything over, but things need to change in the SEC for that to be fair for everybody. We would basically be looking at the old South West Conference and Texas situation again.

The real problem with conferences self regulating is it will fall apart immediately. Let's say the SEC agrees to pay players no more than $80K but the Big Ten will go to $100K. It immediately makes the SEC irrelevant.
