If making the 12 team playoff every year is the baseline for success now there will be many disappointments. The pressure on coaches will be even greater at certain schools.

At least no one else will have to endure the groin kick Georgia and FSU fans experienced this year.

Almost everyone recruits well and has good coaches so it will be fun to watch whatever happens in this crazy conference.

I don't think it will be an expectation for coaches every year, but it will be somewhat like tournament expectations for NCAA basketball coaches.

1. Teams that expect to make the sweet 16 nearly every year in basketball are like teams that expect to make the tournament every year in football. There will be a small number (3-4 tops) that have that expectation. UGA and Bama are probably in that box.

2. There are teams that expect to make the tournament every year and the sweet 16 every 2-3 seasons at the worst. Those are the equivalent of teams that will expect to make the playoff every 2-3 seasons.

3. There are teams that expect to make the tournament more than half the time and expect to make the sweet 16 once a decade. Those are the equivalent of teams that expect to make the playoff once a decade or so.

4. Then there are teams that are just happy to make the playoff once a decade. Those are the equivalent of teams happy to make the playoff once every 25 years or so.

A lot of fans expectations will be the second and third groups, when the reality is probably a group down. The same is true in basketball. That gets a lot of basketball coaches fired due to disappointed fans and will do the same in football.
