Their fanbase is by far the #1 disgusting fanbase in the country. It’s a level that supersedes anything I’ve seen, even within the SEC ( that is not a dig on the SEC ). Amongst SEC teams, even between Texas and OU, there is a quiet level of respect and understanding. Basic humanistic virtues. I’ve met tons of OU fans at the State Fair and had great conversations with them. I was watching the TX-OU game at a public gathering this year and there was a disruptive OU fan taking it too far with his liquid courage and really almost escalated into a huge fight. An OU dad, amongst other Texas fans, had to make the guy realize, look there’s kids here, you’re out of line, being ridiculous, etc. These are the characteristics I see lacking in Ohio State fans. I sat by an Ohio State fan in 2006 in Austin the year off our championship and wanted to strike up convo with the guy - just went on a tirade about how our stadium sucked and how Woody Hayes is the best ever. Didn’t have it in him to be cordial. All this in the midst of the fact we’d gone up to Columbus and beaten them the year before. Passionate college football fan and dickhead are not synonymous. I believe they feel they have to act this way to support their team. It just feels like insecurity.
