I get the feeling the NCAA is barking up a tree that they ought not if they want to maintain any semblance of control over college football. Florida State, Florida, Tennessee for NIL. Michigan for cheating in advance scouting.

They're going after big names and probably have plans to go after a few more in the near future. The NCAA is going to implicate enough significant schools that they may find that the money-makers divorce themselves from the NCAA in football and maybe men's basketball.

There are probably significantly more coaches and administrators who hate it and want clearer guidelines and more rules enforcement than ones who think the current situation is great and want to keep it as is. They may smack around a few programs who have gotten sloppy and out of control with the blatant pay for play, but I don't see that prompting some huge shift in the CFB world. The bigger question is the legality of placing any restrictions on NIL.
