In a podcast the week after Saban stepped down, Pate said that at one point in his life he was "at a very low point" when he attended a seminar where Saban was the main speaker. Short version, Saban changed his life & now he credits his current career to that speech of Saban's. He's usually insightful & unbiased, but ever since Saban's retirement, he's gone a bit overboard in praising Saban & bama.

That's what you do when somebody retires. More so when they are on Saban's level. Not everybody in the world thinks the only proper way to reference somebody is by trashing them.
