This whole NIL thing is going to reward the deep pocket schools and kill the rest.

A few years ago, I saw a list of schools that were actually turning a profit or operating in the black.

Out of 128(?) D-1 schools, only 6 or 8 were turning a profit. And before anyone says that can't be right, remember, that CFB is the cash cow for the ENTIRE athletic department. IE: Women's Tennis, Equestrian, etc...

So, what that means is that to make up the shortfall and to compete in the current NIL climate, the institutions have to have another revenue source. IE: Boosters/Alumni/Collectives/etc.

And that also means that the schools with the deepest pockets will be able to buy the best players and, in essence, buy National Championships

The hole in this logic is the schools can't hand out NIL $$. It has to come from sources outside of the school. The schools can connect donors to athletes, but can't provide any money themselves (beyond the cost of living stipends the players have gotten for years...)

That's better than rewarding the schools that were best at cheating and hiding it it under the table and/or repressing investigations by their good buddies.

It’s more than just having “deep pockets”

Sensibility & Great Decision making will play huge factors. I think schools that have great planning & leadership will excel.
