What makes it underwhelming to you?
My reasons for liking the hire, in no particular order:
He has in state connections, particularly in the 251, which has proven to be a fertile recruiting ground.
He runs an attacking style of defense, where safeties tend to thrive. That excites me for Downs, who hopefully, according to Boz, is sticking around.
He knows what it takes to win football games, as evidenced by his 10 win season at South.
Last time he was a DC he was a finalist for the Broyle’s Award.

Where did boz report the news on downs? I looked through the more trafficked threads and couldn’t find it.
