I was around Perkins quite a bit back then.. that was back in my coaching days.
He was a 100% a-hole, but he was a good coach that found a pretty empty cupboard when he arrived. Lots of kids (ex.. Bo Jackson) didn’t sign with Bama because they weren’t sure Bryant would be around .
Perkins recruited really well.. Biscuit, DT are just 2 examples. He would have eventually won big at Bama imo.
But he certainly pissed a lot of folks off trying to prove it was his program.
