Average income is 28k. And the sad thing is that virtually all of the money is concentrated in Washington, Benton, Pulaski, Garland, and to a lesser extent Faulkner and White counties.

That’s crazy. With my daughter now out of the house, my wife is switching careers to teaching and makes $5K per month as a pre-certification, teacher trainee in Virginia. That’s basically just a step above “long-term substitute” on the pay scale. Very entry level.
I know our cost of living is 52% higher than MS, but those MS numbers look low.
