Look there is plenty of reasons for Bama fans to be good with the hire.

But there is also plenty of evidence to show the guy doesn’t like doing the 1 thing we all know is absolutely required to be successful at CFB, recruiting.

He has shown he is a great x's and o's in-game coach. That is a known. Everything else is unknown with him.

ETA Lanning and Norvelle were the two that scared the shite out of me. DeBoer is a "prove it" for me.

All of those three are "prove it" for me.

But by going off the resumes, I'd say Norvell, Lanning, and then DeBoer have shown the potential to prove it.

Norvell won at Memphis and turned around FSU who had been dogshit since even before Jimbo left.

Lanning's ties to Kirby (and one year as a GA under Saban) tell me he knows how to win, but it is a lot easier to win at Oregon compared to much of their competition because of the resource advantage they have.

DeBoer's resume is solid, just very thin at the major coaching level. Alabama will recruit itself for a year or two. After that, we'll see.
