Who were you going to get that would be better? A+ especially considering the timing of Saban's retirement. I guess you could argue that Kirby would have been better but Bama is shooting for higher than 3 CFP appearances in 8 years.

Kirby was 1-5 against Saban and the lone win was a fluke. Even Malzahn and Freeze did better.
