No one expects Saban 2.0. 10 wins a year and beating AU and UT more often than not will satisfy the vast majority. Win a title and he will get a statue.

I mean, yeah, eventually that might be the case. I think it's a lot to ask your fanbase, especially the "extended" portion, to get to that reality overnight.

Not for long.
Fortunately for DeBoer, CFP expands to 12 spots next year so bar not so high for getting in. But he will definitely be expected to be in the CFP every other year on average and win the natty every 5 years or so. Not at Saban's rate but he needs to be in the convo with Kirby.
I mean, Kelly isn't going to keep his job just winning 10 a year either. Beating Bama every few years would help but it's not enough to keep your job long term. Expectation, sooner or later, is that you are in the CFP and in the mix for a natty and actually deliver one every 5 years or so.
