I could not find a site before they pulled the odds that had him in there. He would have been about 10-1. Why would they not list him? Because it was known to enough people at the time they were posted to possibly really hurt them. Plus why would Kirby tell Saban “try to enjoy this one” before the SEC championship? Because he knew it was his last one. How would he know? Bama had already contacted him to talk to Schumann about possible interest in the job. We will see

This has to be totally separate from the HC position. The permission for Alabama to interview Schumann requires a vacancy at the time of the request based on SEC regulations.

The Alabama DC announced his retirement, so Schumann would have to be interviewed specifically for that position prior to Saban announcing his retirement.
